But I Thought That Was Like...Umm...Japanese

Those were thoughts of my internal bro as someone suggested that we get sushi for dinner.  And while my inner bromeister was right (something I hate to admit), he was a bit foolish thinking you couldn't get it in China.

We went to this small corner sushi shop on the same street-food alley.  It was about 8 ft deep and 20 ft wide...errr....2.4 meters deep and 6.1 meters wide.  I have to get into this metric thing.  But damn, did they make that space work.  It took them a bit of time, probably about 20 minutes, but we ended up with this (and a few more rolls they hadn't put on the counter yet):

It also doubled as a hospital...they were actually performing surgery behind the bar.  I'm not kidding.  China is so efficient.

And all for about 65 yuan ($9.50).  We walked it back and ate it at Bill and Robin's apartment, two other English teachers working at Nanjing University of Aeronautics.  Their apartment was nice.  Real nice.  They had real beds!  Although I have started to become fond of sleeping on wooden crates with a bit of padding.

As we unpackaged the sushi, I noticed the cutest little soy packets in the world.

Damn cute plates as well.

These were accompanied by little tiny packets of wasabi...which I feel should be just as standard as ketchup.  The sushi defniitely wasn't fancy restaurant grade, but still way better than Publix/Other Grocery Store sushi.  And for about $1.50 a roll, who can really ask for more.

Oh..and here is an absurdly cute pillow that I saw in this store called FASHION LADY!!!  (I will definitely post more pictures of stuff from Fashion Lady.)

I apologize, I've been somewhat lazy about bringing my camera about, but still expect more picture of food.  And another thing to be excited about, my trifecta of ocean-themed Pringles flavors is close to being assembled!!

  3. Better than Publix? I didn't think that was possible. By the way, our home in Tallahassee is 130 square meters.

  5. at first, I thought the people behind the counter were hospital workers and I was pretty concerned about what you had been up to.
